Begin to educate yourself about weddings and receptions
Discuss and decide on the size and style of ceremony
Discuss and decide on a realistic budget based on your research and priorities
Select a wedding date and time
Select a ceremony site
Select a reception site
Discuss and decide on wedding colors,
size of wedding party, size of guest list,
ushers, etc.
Begin to shop for and book your vendors
Caterer
Florist
Photographer
Videographer
Musicians
Transportation
DJ or Band

Select and order your gown
Inquire about pre-marital counseling from your church and/or minister

3-6 Months Before

Order invitations
Select your bridesmaids
Shop for bridesmaids dresses
Complete guest list
Register gift choices with your selected bridal registry
Begin addressing invitations

2-4 Months Before

Select a bakery and order cake
Order any rental equipment
Begin making accommodation arrangements for out-of-town guests and wedding party
Begin personal shopping for pre-wedding parties and honeymoon
Make any necessary personal appointments - legal, medical and beauty
Schedule rehearsal and rehearsal dinner

4-6 Weeks Before

Mail invitations
Check with vendors
Caterer

Make necessary changes if you plan to take your husband's name

Charge Accounts

Post Office
Make sure you have all accessories for your wedding gown

1-2 Weeks Before


Arrange for final fitting and delivery of all wedding attire
Confirm final guest count and inform the reception location and/or caterer
Have final consultation with florist, photographer, videographer, DJ and musicians
Pack a Bridal Crisis Kit
Arrange reception seating
Arrange to go with your groom to obtain the marriage license
Make sure you have all important papers ready for honeymoon
Pack for honeymoon
Finalize accommodations for out-of-town guests and wedding party
Finalize transportation
Inform wedding attendants of any special responsibilities
Relax whenever possible
